RESCENE's Woni said "museobno." That is not a confirmed far-right code.

Woni's Gyeongsang "museobno" was read as Ilbe slang. The Muze, KBS, and Kim Seontae statements as of 13 Sep 2026 — what is confirmed.

TL;DR — RESCENE leader Woni said 무섭노 (museobno, “how scary”) in a 28 June 2026 YouTube clip. Some posters treated the -노 ending as far-right Ilbe slang; she and most dialect speakers called it ordinary Gyeongsang speech. The Muze Entertainment did not rule on the slang claim; on 16 July it opened a malicious-post / copyright report channel. A 29 July KBS web-show preview, Donseontae (돈선태 성공시대), reopened the clip; Kim Seontae, the production team, and KBS all apologised. KBS cancelled digital and broadcast slots on 31 July. On 11 September Kim said work had dried up. As of 13 Sep 2026, no court, police, or agency finding has established that Woni used a hate-coded slogan.

A Geoje dialect line is not a confirmed far-right dog whistle. A cancelled KBS YouTube show is not proof that the first claim was true.

The clip, in one paragraph

RESCENE (Woni, Zena, Liv, Minami, May) is a 2024 The Muze act that broke wider in 2026 on YouTube dialect and gyaru bits, then on a Love Attack reverse-chart run. On 28 June, Woni’s channel follows her into Japanese member Minami’s house. JoongAng’s reconstruction: they hear a closet noise; the producer says museobno; Woni repeats it. The Korea Herald’s overlay quote is the same idea in English: “It’s scary. Even the lighting is scary.” That is the whole on-tape event. There is no campaign slogan and no named politician in the original exchange.

Why one syllable split the thread

In Gyeongsang speech, -노 is a normal sentence ending — questions, and, linguists told Korean media, exclamations and asides. Ilbe (a far-right community) also bolts -노 onto standard Korean to mock Roh Moo-hyun, whose surname is pronounced No. Same sound, different jobs. Dong-A University’s Ahn Tae-hyeong, quoted by the Herald and Seoul Economic Daily, said the dialect -노 is not only interrogative.

So the fight was never “did she say the word?” She did. The fight was “which -노 was it?” That is a context question. A Geoje native answering “how scary” on a variety shoot is not, by itself, evidence of a hate code. Calling every -노 “Ilbe” also over-claims. Those are two different mistakes. Synortex is not picking a party line; it is refusing to treat a reading as a fact about Woni.

Politicians then quoted the syllable, not the guest. Lee Jun-seok (Reform Party) said a 22-year-old from Geoje was being branded for hometown speech. Yoon Sang-hyun (People Power) called dialect-as-Ilbe “baffling.” Ha Heon-gi said you cannot read intent from one ending. Cho Kuk’s early Facebook notes tried to separate “mechanical” Ilbe -노 from real Yeongnam dialect; timelines still glued those notes to RESCENE. On 12 July he said, in writing, that he had not named the group and was sorry the posts were used that way.

Donseontae: the second, confirmed mess

KBS’s new web show Donseontae Success Story — Chungju-man Kim Seontae inviting “success” guests into a Seoul room — put Woni and Minami in a 29 July Kebaeksu Original preview. Star News reconstructed the beat from the file (since deleted): Kim framed museobno as a “happening,” asked her to talk it through “lightly,” asked whether anyone had called it viral (“I’m an attacker”), then asked her to fire a dialect line, “why is my story coming up in politics.” Woni looked startled, said news coverage scared her because it could hit the group, and that even her surname made the stories. On-screen copy, per Star News, included “we asked her directly why museobno is Ilbe.”

Korean boards and entertainment desks called that 2차 가해 — dragging a guest back through a wound for a title. That phrase is criticism of the show, not a court count. What is on the record: a thumbnail “뭐가 무섭노?”, a politics-bait title, hashtags Sportal and Xports listed as people unrelated to the episode (politicians and other public names), a later thumbnail/title swap, then a takedown.

30 July: Kim’s YouTube apology (Newsis). Production apology on the channel community (Xports, full text). 31 July: Kim quits; KBS kills the series and prints the “no political purpose / leftover tags” line (Sportal).

Where it sits on 13 September 2026

Star News, 13 Sep, is not a new RESCENE statement. It is Kim, on 11 Sep, saying the diary after the apology looks like off-season in peak season, plus a staff exit he narrated with a Titanic-rats joke. Treat that as his status update.

GP Korea’s 2 Sep brand-reputation dump (Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, 2 Aug–2 Sep data) is a separate product: Woni, Zena, Liv, Minami, May at #1–#5 among rookie-idol personal brands; Woni’s listed positive ratio 94.32%. That is a mention/sentiment index, not a moral verdict and not proof the June clip “helped.”

The Muze’s public line, in the Chosun/OSEN and Hankook Ilbo copies we opened, is still the report form, not a dialect white paper.

Why Korean boards keep recycling it

Theqoo / FMKorea-style threads treat this as two stacked fights: (1) dialect vs. hate-code policing, (2) KBS clickbait. Foreign readers usually see only the second headline (“idol in Ilbe row”). The first fight is why the second one exploded. Board heat is not a source for intent, bookings, or secret agency calls. Kim’s claim that he phoned the CEO is his claim; Money Today printed it; The Muze has not published a matching transcript in the stories we opened.

FAQ

Did Woni use an Ilbe slur?

Not established. She said a Geoje-shaped “how scary.” Ilbe’s -노 gag exists. Equating the two is the allegation. Woni’s on-camera line is that she did not mean that and did not know that reading.

Did the agency “clear” her?

They opened a defamation/copyright tip desk. That is protection language, not a forensic report on one syllable.

Did Cho Kuk accuse RESCENE of being Ilbe?

He says no, and that he never wrote the name. Early posts were about the ending, then mapped onto the idol. His 12 July note is the walk-back to quote.

Did KBS admit a political setup?

No. It apologised for hurtful form and for sloppy hashtags, denied political or viral intent, and cancelled the show.

Is Donseontae still airing?

No. KBS said digital and linear plans are off. Kim quit.

Is RESCENE finished?

No evidence of that in the September press we opened. A brand-index sweep is not a tour announcement, but it is the opposite of a disappearance.
