Names foreign readers keep mixing up
Korean title 이 별로부터 is translated in English press as From This Star and, in some tracklists / overseas copy, Unknown Planet. Same song. Digital-single packaging may use either English line depending on the outlet. Synortex will say From This Star (이 별로부터) and note Unknown Planet where boards use that tag.
The 10 September package
EDAM framed the drop as relief after IU paused a planned September concert and sixth-album push when patulous Eustachian tube symptoms made singing hard to sustain (her own explanation, widely reprinted). The digital single is not the full album — it is two finished title tracks that will also appear on that album when it ships.
Dear my crazy soulmate is the friendship half: platform notes point the dedication at actress Yoo In-na; the MV leans comic-warm with veterans Kim Young-ok and Na Moon-hee, plus Shim Dal-gi and Esom, in a prison birthday reunion story.
From This Star is the cosmic / connection half. Charts treated it as the primary chart-topper in the agency’s 10–11 Sep snapshots.
The 16 September MV (what OSEN describes)
Chosun English (OSEN) reports the video opening with IU alone in a dark space, signing / gesturing toward camera, then narration: “Today is September 16. A good day to depart for an unknown place. Perhaps someone I haven't met yet is waiting.” Dreamlike screen-to-screen communication, past records, then spacesuit / Earth-observation imagery that literalizes the title. Global fan comments on the official upload are already the usual “universe / comforting / dream” cluster — quote those as fan reaction, not as critical consensus.
Earlier teasers (MK) show the PLANET chat UI and cut to IU opposite Jorge López — the Chile / Élite hook for Spanish-language coverage.

What is not confirmed
- A locked sixth-album calendar date
- That every Melon/Genie rank above remains forever (charts move; cite release-window snapshots)
- Cast lists beyond the names EDAM/OSEN/MK printed
- That the MV “means” a specific real-world romance — it is a concept film with a named actor counterpart
Why this travels on Korean boards
Double-title IU, a Yoo In-na dedication, veteran-actress comedy MV, then a midnight sci-fi film with a Netflix-familiar Chilean co-star is four shareable hooks in one week. Synortex’s job is the timeline and credits, not fan theories about who the “someone waiting” is.
